C. 1987 Dobro Model 66S
C. 1987 Dobro Model 66S
Dobro was founded in the late 1920s by the Dopyera brothers, whose single-cone resonator design became a defining sound in early country, Hawaiian, and later bluegrass music. After decades of shifting ownership and inactivity, the Dobro name returned to the Dopyera family in the late 1960s with the formation of the Original Musical Instrument Company (OMI), leading to a veritable renaissance in Dobro quality.
The Model 66, a woodbody dobro, with its sandblasted decorative finishes and spider-bridge construction, has a more high falutin’ look than normal, but still has the “Uncle Josh” sound.
Condition is very good, showing light finish checking consistent with age. There are no structural issues.
Comes with a gig bag.
