1925 Hilo Hawaiian Guitar
1925 Hilo Hawaiian Guitar
Made by Oscar Schmidt, out of Jersey City, NJ (the most Hawaiian place on Earth, of course), the “Hilo” was a quality, budget alternative to the then quite highly priced Weissenborn Hawaiian slide guitars, often built to a fairly similar standard of quality, with similar materials, with the main difference being the presence of ladder bracing, verses Weissenborn’s “fancier” X brace design.
This example is made from Mahogany, and has a nice, sweet sound, with that great Hawaiian “whine” to it. In great condition, with expected wear for being 101 years old: dings, etc, but nothing major.
Comes with a gig bag.
