2001 Gibson J-185EC

$2,395.00

This 2001 Gibson J-185EC, a cutaway jumbo acoustic-electric, is a modern take on the famed J-200, with classic Gibson styling and modern versatility. Sized down from the J-200, it features a 16" lower bout and full 4 3/4" body depth for a big sound in a more manageable form. A treble-side cutaway allows easy upper fret access, and the undersaddle pickup adds a nice usability for live or the studio.

This guitar features a solid spruce top and highly figured maple back, sides, and neck. The tone is clear and focused with strong projection, string-to-string definition, and warm low-end from the deep body. The three-piece maple neck has a medium C profile and is topped with a bound ebony fretboard and pearloid split parallelogram inlays.

The ebony bridge has its original compensated saddle with plenty of height for future adjustments.

Cosmetically, the guitar is in excellent condition. Very few marks overall, just average wear expected from 24 years of use. The figured maple is outstanding throughout, with tight quilting on the back, and strong flame on three piece neck and sides, making this quite a nice example from Gibson’s early 2000s era.

This particular example does not feature the batwing style pickguard often found on these models.

Comes with the original hard shell case.
