1978 Martin D-28
1978 Martin D-28
Made toward the end of Martin’s most controversial era, this 1978 D-28 is a great old Martin that has survived the passage of time and aged into a really nice old guitar.
With the braces scalloped sometime in the past, this guitar has a lot more volume and body than the average 70’s D-28, and, thanks to its V shaped 1 11/16 neck, plays a lot like its 1960’s cousins, and thanks to the aftermarket scalloping, has a much more vintage sound to it than 70’s Martins usually have.
This guitar is in great shape, with only a couple things: the bridge most likely is a newer replacement with a wider saddle (or the original that’s been shaved with a wider saddle slot milled into it), there’s a repaired very minor pickguard crack (ergo probably newer pickguard), and the neck is slightly upbowed with the action just a tad high. Still very playable, especially for bluegrass.
Comes with a Martin hard case, most likely original.
