1960 Martin D-28
1960 Martin D-28
1960, the beginning of the last decade of Martins “Golden Age”, was a great year for guitars. The advent of Rock n’ Roll had just begun to boost interest in Martin guitars to stratospheric levels, and their manufacturing, still at the old Nazareth factory (just 7 years before they moved down the road to a new state-of-the-art facility), and they had nailed down their production process to where they were still making excellent guitars but at a much higher clip than the 40’s or 50’s.
This 1960 D-28 shares many of the same features of its sought after 50’s brethren, including the 1 11/16ths nut, the fairly slim V shaped neck, Sitka spruce top, Brazilian rosewood back and sides, and excellent tight grained ebony fretboard and bridge.
Having gone back to Martin to fix a neck crack which was excellently repaired, this guitar has had a couple of other repairs including a shaved bridge, slight overspray on the top, and overspray on the headstock. It plays great, has exactly the sort of boomy, dry sound you’d want from an old Martin.
Comes with a hard shell case.
