Heiss F-Style
Heiss F-Style
Made by Roxbourogh, CO based builder Mark Heiss, this F-Style is a nice, reasonably priced Studio style F-Style, with the visual appointments one would expect from a mid-ranged mandolin- no back and headstock binding, but a nicely bound (July 9th side bound style) top, bound rosewood fretboard, and a modified Fern style inlay.
The top is a nice piece of tightly grained Engelmann spruce, and the back and sides are nicely flamed maple, all finished with a varnish finish, hand rubbed.
Wide 1 3/16 nut, big chunky neck profile, coupled with a 14” scale makes for a very playable, if full in the hand mandolin with a nice bright sound. Nugget-style tailpiece.
Has had a repaired headstock scroll break.
Comes with a Loar style rectangle case.
