1907 Gibson A-1

$1,650.00

This beautiful old A style, made well before any of the changes and refinements to Gibson’s mandolin lineup by Lloyd Loar, has survived amazingly well for its 119 year existence.

Nearly identical to the rest of the long lived A series stretching well into the 40’s, just with a slightly more bulbous recurve to the top, but with the same birch back and sides, this lovely old mandolin is nice and bright, with a distinctive, hollow sounding “old timey” voice to it that is often found on these 10’s and teens A's.

The main difference in design between this and later teens models is the three piece neck, found on and off on the lesser expensive A models from this time, as well as a different tailpiece, as well as Gibson’s Lyre logo.

Overall good condition, especially for its age, with marks throughout and checking as well. All original except for a replacement pickguard bracket.

Comes with a chipboard case.
