Built by Fayetteville, Arkansas based luthier Bayard Blain, this octave mandolin came to us by way of the Rocky Mountain Archtop festival, where Bayard and Co came up the hill to see the shop, and left us this remarkable instrument!

This particular beauty features a Sitka spruce, Oval hole, X braced top for lots of sustain and a little more punch than tone bar construction, a Honduras mahogany back and sides and neck, an Ebony fingerboard with a 21.25” scale.

The headstock, which is particularly nice looking, features a Pale Moon ebony headplate, the same material as the binding and bridge. Gotoh tuning machines.
Bayard casts his own tailpieces, which is amazing, and this one is sandcast silicon bronze.
