Idaho based luthier A. Lawrence Smart has made a name for himself over the last several decades as one of the highest quality mandolin builders out there, and mandolas like this one can be seen in the hands of players like Joe K. Walsh, John Reischman and many more.

This beauty, made in December of 1999, is a beautiful, varnish finished high level instrument that is pre-redesign: Smart enlarged the Mandola body sometime in the late 2000’s.

This Mandola is in great shape, with only a few marks telling its age, and the varnish finish enriches the amazing one piece quilted maple back and sides.

The neck has a little bit of relief, with no adjustability, but plays clean up and down.

Sounds beautiful, with a rich, full, alive tone.

Comes with a nice hard case.
