2019 Fender Custom Shop Wildwood 1956 Mary Kaye Stratocaster
2019 Fender Custom Shop Wildwood 1956 Mary Kaye Stratocaster
Made for our neighbors up north, this Wildwood spec Custom Shop Stratocaster is an emulation of the much sought after Mary Kaye Stratocaster, named for the legendary Las Vegas performer, who’s 1956 promotional photograph with one of the first “custom” Strats was purely an advertising stunt: Kaye favored D’Angelico archtops.
The design struck a chord with players, however, with its Translucent White finish, gold hardware, and maple neck, and is today one of the most valuable vintage Stratocasters one can acquire. This Custom shop model is a great recreation, light age included, of what a nice “closet queen” example of these guitars would be like today, just with slightly larger frets and a little bit of wear.
Ash body.
Other modern features include modern wiring, a 10” radius (though the neck is a nice mid 50’s rounded V), and John Cruz 50’s spec pickups.
Comes with the original case, candy, and ashtray/trem arm combo.
Great shape.
