1999 Tom Anderson Guitarworks "Drop Top" w/ Switcheroo
Tom Anderson started out at Schecter in the late ’70s, and by the mid-’80s he was winding pickups in his kitchen and building necks and bodies in his garage. Before long, he was turning out full guitars under his own name: clean, precise, and ahead of the curve with CNC routing, UV finishes, and compound radius boards before most builders caught up. Today, Anderson Guitarworks is still a tight operation, putting out some of the most dialed-in bolt-necks around.
This particular HSS Super Strat visually is similar to a lot of other popular makers from the late 20th century, specifically Pensa-Suhr.
With a non-traditional style of pickup selection, the “Switcheroo” as he’s hilariously named it, features a three way switch for each pickup - Up: which is split coil wiring, Middle: Off, and Down: full series wiring. The additional “blow” switch switches whatever position you’re into onto the bridge pickup in full humbucker glory for leads.
This particular drop top features a lovely bookmatched quilted maple cap, as well as a maple C profile neck with ebony fretboard. This example, unlike many from this time period, features a hardtail.
In great shape, just one or two nicks here or there.
Comes with the original Fender style square hardshell case.
