1974/5 Gibson ES-175

$4,150.00

Though Gibson had entered firmly into the “Norlin Era” by 1974, not every guitar in their lineup suffered as much as some of the more popular models (Les Paul, SG, etc.). In fact, many of their jazz-based guitars from this era have their own appeal, with flatter neck profiles and wide nuts, and though they were often heavier due to material shortcomings in Gibson’s production, they had a nice chunky, Jazzy sound that features in much of the then-burgeoning jazz fusion world.

This mid 70’s ES-175, the all laminate, usually dual humbucker jazz box developed to eliminate feedback from resonant solid tops, is in excellent condition for its age, and unlike the usually clown colored sunbursts often seen in this era, this guitar has a beautiful, almost 50’s colored Root Beer sunburst, and looks much more elegant than its usual 70’s compatriots.

With a return to the slightly wider 1 11/16 nut width, as well as retaining the 3 piece maple neck from the early 70’s, this guitar is a nice player, thanks to its flatter neck profile.

The laminate maple body is in great shape, though a previous jack hole has been drilled and filled in the top.

The hardware is a mix of original and replaced, with the tuners probably being newer dual line Klusons. The bridge is a very pretty inlaid ebony replacement as well.

Comes with a hard case.
