1960 Hofner Club 60
1960 Hofner Club 60
Though big fans of the Beatles might see this guitar and point, this 1960 is actually the higher end version of the guitars that the then club playing Liverpool band was playing during their German residency.
With a solid spruce top, laminate maple back and sides, and a hollow construction (just minus the F holes), this Club 60 shares more with the big Hofner jazz guitars of the 50’s than it does with any solid body from the day, despite its small body and cutaway, plus the telltale cherry sunburst.
This example from 1960 is in impeccable condition, with barely a mark on it, although one of the original gold knob caps is missing, and there’s a hole on the heel cap for a button that is no longer there.
This guitar is from the first year of Hofner’s soon-to-be-iconic control scheme, two volumes and selector/tone switch, which can be seen on the much more popular violin bass.
Comes with a non original hardshell.
