1956 Gibson ES-225T
1956 Gibson ES-225T
By the mid 1950’s, Gibson was experimenting with all kinds of variations on their popular guitars, and in this case, the 225 started life as a modified ES-125, which itself was a modification of the L-50.
With a thin line body, that’s still fully hollow, made of laminate maple, fitted with a single P90 right in the middle of the body, this guitar has a sound unlike anything else Gibson made back in the day, almost like the middle position on a Telecaster.
The neck is a very comfortable mahogany with a 1 11/16th nut, making for very traditional mid-50’s Gibson playing experience- more of an acoustic guitar feel than a Les Paul, per se.
This one is in player condition, with the most notable visual thing being the finish wear apparent through out, especially on the headstock, which has yellowed over time due to exposure to humidity. The finish has also been marred on the headstock from tuners being changed, though there is a vintage appropriate set on it now.
The finish on the body is in fairly good shape considering the headstock, and there is significant wear on the tailpiece as well.
Comes with a non-original case.
