1980 ODE 6500 (Model D)
1980 ODE 6500 (Model D)
Made in ODE’s era where they were produced in the USA by Gretsch, under Baldwin’s watchful eye, this amazing model 6500 (formerly the model D) was the top of the line for the formerly Colorado based company at this time.
With all walnut construction (the model was originally rosewood in the 60’s but switched in the early 70s’s) and a slew of gold hardware, the 6500 was as much flash as it was excellent tone, which it has in spades thanks to its 20 hole Mastertone style tone ring and more Gibson style bracket mounting compared to the earlier shoe-on design ODE had stuck to for years.
With a longer 27.1” scale (compared to Gibsons, which hover around 25”) this banjo has a whip-like crack to the tone and a slightly more aggressive touch.
In excellent condition, literally almost factory new after 45 years.
Comes with a hardshell case.
