2005 Big Hollow Custom "Prospector" Parlor

$6,500.00

Built in Laramie, Wyoming by luthier Bevan Frost, this stunning little guitar has it all going for it, not the least being its incredible pieces of Cocobolo (check out that sapwood!) for the back and sides and its lovely, intricate inlays.

This 2005 model, serial #001, essentially the prototype for the “Prospector” body size, Frost’s Single-0 size, features a 13.75” lower bout and extra narrow waist for the ultimate comfortable, couch sized guitar (albeit one with better specs than most) as well as a 24 7/8ths inch scale for a nice slinky feeling, and an extra wide 1 13/16ths nut width.

Visually, this guitar has many great pieces of inlay, both wood and abalone, with a nice vine inlay and sun sitting around the body joint, as well as multi layer wood binding on the headstock and herringbone purfling. Ebony pyramid bridge and fretboard. This guitar was constructed with hide glue, and has a dual bolt reinforced neck joint, as per conversation with Bevan Frost.

Top is a tight grained piece of Sitka spruce, though it has grain tighter than most pieces of Adirondack.

In good condition, having just been set up by our luthiers here. One minor crack on the upper bout, fairly low frets at the top but still plenty playable overall. Action medium for blues bending goodness!

This guitar was formerly owned by guitarist and producer Chris Walla, of Death Cab For Cutie and The Long Winters.

Comes with the original hard case.
