1977 Martin D-12-28
1977 Martin D-12-28
Made at the end of Martin’s ostensibly least well regarded period historically, the modern connotation of the 1970’s being a bad time for acoustic guitars certainly did not stop people from buying them in absolute droves while they were being manufactured. In 1977, 12 string guitars were at the peak of their popularity, thanks to CSNY, Gordon Lightfoot, Jimmy Page, and many many folk and country musicians, and this D-12-28, the 12 string D-28 equivalent, is living proof of that.
A one owner guitar, this old gal has seen some well cared for miles, not abused, and is in remarkable shape for its age. The sitka spruce top, Indian rosewood back and sides, ebony bridge and fretboard, and overall look is quite clean for a 49 year old guitar, the only issue when it came to us being the upbow in the neck. We’ve compression fretted the guitar, giving it a much better feel and much lower action.
Comes with the original hardshell case.
