1971 Martin 000-18
1971 Martin 000-18
Though popular with fingerstyle and folk players in the 60’s, by the 70’s, the dreadnought was ruling the world of acoustic guitar, leaving the humble 000 dwindling in production numbers and popularity. This led to the 000-18 becoming one of the more reliable 70’s Martins, suffering perhaps a bit less from the usual problems the 70’s brought for the historic guitar manufacturer. You also see 000’s from this time period staying a little better preserved than their larger brothers, thanks to lighter strings and less heavy… shall we say… rocking.
This example, from 1971, is a great example of that, though it’s had the usual Colorado cracks happen and be fixed by our house luthiers. Other than that, this is a lovely old Martin, with a nice present, bright sound, a little louder than the average 000 from the era.
Sitka spruce top, mahogany back, sides, and neck, 1 11/16 nut, original Grover tuners. The finish is in great shape, with just a few dings here and there.
Comes with a non-original case.
