1969 Martin D-28 (Indian Rosewood)
1969 Martin D-28 (Indian Rosewood)
Made in the last year of Martin’s use of Brazilian rosewood, this 1969 just barely did not make the cut, being in the first 700 serial numbers to utilize the new standard: East Indian.
That being said, it’s not a detriment to the guitar, as often times the Brazilian used in this period of Martin’s history was sub-par, eventually even leading to the creation of the D-35 to utilize smaller pieces as larger premium slabs were less and less available as time went on.
With a 1 11/16 nut, ebony board and bridge, Sitka top, and straight, rear shifted bracing, this D-28 is tonally right down the center of what you’d expect from the era: a little thuddy, but nice and even with a little shimmer on top.
Great shape, with expected play wear on the body and a previous neck reset and new saddle. Otherwise all original.
Comes with a non-original hardshell case.
