Built a few years after the war ended, this LG-2, Gibson’s second smallest guitar, but at the “middle of the road” quality level (which now is above most things being made today), is a great example of Gibson’s post-war production.

Like many Gibsons from this era, the serial number and FON, interestingly, were done away with, often leading to confusion in the dating process, leading to the reliance on context clues for dating. The new for late 1947 block inlay, 1 11/16th nut, and general appearance put this guitar in mid 1947.

As well as its wide waisted 00 sized body, Sitka top, mahogany back and sides, and gorgeous sunburst finish, the LG-2, like the LG-3 (which was essentially just a slightly higher grade version of the LG-2, much rarer) features X-bracing, a square Brazilian rosewood bridge, Brazilian fretboard, and a fairly normal sized C neck.

This guitar is in good-very good condition, with a fairly low saddle, but plays well currently. Otherwise in good condition.

Vintage tuners, most likely original as Gibson went to closed back tuners around this time.
