1946 Martin D-28 Herringbone
1946 Martin D-28 Herringbone
Made in the same year Dan Tyminski’s extremely well played D-28 is from, this 1946 Martin D-28 is from the last year of the hyper sought after Herringbone purfling, which can add large percentages to guitar value. This particular example is a nice, open, woody sounding guitar that has a deep thud to the sound that sounds just like the recordings from “Oh Brother, Where Art Thou” and countless other Tyminski recordings.
The nice full slight V neck profile works very well with the narrower 1 11/16 nut of the era, and make for very easy playing old Martin that has a nice soft responsive touch to it, with a good amount of power even at a light touch.
The bridge has been replaced, and the body has overspray, as well as the addition of a replacement pickguard. The center seam has also been reglued. An incredibly nice guitar with a good, played in sound and feel. The headstock has been cracked and repaired.
Comes with a non-original hard shell case.
