1942 Gibson L-00

$8,000.00

Build in the famed pre-WWII period of Gibson’s production, this 1942 Gibson L-00 perfectly encapsulates what makes these early 40’s small bodies so revered - its articulate, woody, and effortless to play.

With the black finish, which Gibson often used to either hide blemishes in the wood, or to mix and match wood types, it’s a bit of a crapshoot as to what Gibson used besides the usual Adirondack spruce, but from our best guess, it would be the usual mahogany back and either birch or maple sides. Either way, it’s nice and lively sounding with a great ring to it and very clear single notes.

The neck is the usual mahogany with a 1 ¾ nut, fairly large V profile, and is very comfy in the hand.

Condition wise, it’s had a life, with a large straight top crack that has been fixed, along with a sticker from an old Vancouver based music store, presumably from when it was originally sold, as well as some dings here and there and a couple patches of finish missing from the side.

Tuners are replacements, but the originals are in the case!

Comes with non-original case.
