By the end of the year, we will have 2 new models of mandolins from the wacky world of Bill Collings. Both the "MT" (A model) and the "MF" (F model) will be matte finish, sunburst top and top bound in tortoise shell celluloid. These lacquer-finished beauties will feature the same stylish cast tailpiece as the higher-end model, only with a satin finish, giving it an older appearance. A collaboration between Mike Kemnitzer and Bill Collings will produce a limited number of "Tim O'Brien" signature model mandolins. Mike will carve the top and back plates and they will be assembled and finished at the Collings facility in Austin. The A model will have the "Nugget" name on the peghead and a label inside signifying the Collings involvement. Orders are presently being taken.
