In-Store Repair Shop

The Olde Town Pickin' Parlor features an in-store full service repair shop specializing in all aspects of acoustic instrument repair. From setups and pickup installations to refrets, neck resets and full restorations, our luthiers can handle all of your needs.
The repair shop works on steel string, classical and electric guitars, as well as basses, banjos, mandolins, resos, autoharps, zithers, and all members of the violin family.

Head repairman, Edward Victor Dick has been a full time professional luthier since 1975. He has built over 300 instruments that include steel string and classical guitars, banjos, basses, bouzoukis, citterns, dulcimers, harps, and lutes for museums. He is well versed in the historical traditions of lutherie.  Edward is also fully authorized to perform Martin, Taylor, and Larrivee warranty work. Edward has personally trained two assistants, Greg German and Mikah Lundy, who can also help you with your service needs.  Edward and Greg now collaborate to produce the Victor Guitars line of steel string flattop guitars.  Edward also builds classical guitars under the name  EVD String Instruments.     There are usually one or more of these outstanding instruments available for purchase in the Olde Town Pickin Parlor showroom.

Greg German is an artist by training, (a Medical Illustrator to be more precise.) He graduated from Baylor University with a B.A. in fine art, and from UT Southwestern with an M.A. in Biomedical Communications. This led Greg to a job in Ames, Iowa at Engineering Animation, Inc.  At EAI Greg did medical animation for pharmaceutical ads and anatomy CD-ROMs for a while until the company started producing games. He became a character animator and modeler on games for Warner Bros® and Hasbro®. He also started building furniture. After relocating to Colorado, Greg took a job at the Art Institute of Colorado teaching computer animation. His interest in building musical instruments grew stronger.  Soon afterward Greg became an apprentice in Edward V. Dick's repair shop. Edward and Greg now collaborate to produce the Victor Guitar line of steel string flattop guitars.  Greg also build his own line of guitars and invites you to visit his website, 'German Guitars'.

The repair shop has become renowned for its quality work and prompt service. Most repairs are performed within three to four days. You can even make an appointment to have work done the same day you bring your instrument in!
