This is one of Martin's Standard series guitars. The HD-28 is different than the D-28 in the way the braces are constructed, and some of the aesthetics. The HD-28 has Herringbone trim around the top, and a zig-zag stripe down the back whereas the D-28 does not. The HD-28 also has scalloped bracing, the D-28 does not and so usually the HD-28 has a more desirable sound when they are stacked up against each other.
This is a standard sized Dreadnought with a 14 fret neck. It has a solid Sitka spruce top with east Indian rosewood back and sides. It has a solid ebony bridge with a compensated bone saddle. The guitar comes with a Standard X Scalloped bracing pattern. It has an Ebony fingerboard, a bone nut, and Gotoh Chrome tuning machines with large knobs. It has a Gloss finish, an East Indian Rosewood overlay on the peghead, and a tortoise pickguard. The scale length is 25.4" and the nut width is 1 11/16".
These are always great guitars. We sell a lot of HD-28 guitars because they are so versatile and sound so good. Martin Guitars has made the D-28 since the early 1930s and this is a continuation of the tradition. For more information visit the Pickin' Parlor or go to:
