1932 Martin 3K Ukulele - Case extra - $3600 Price

The Martin Guitar company introduced the style 3 ukulele in 1918 and continued its production until 1939. The standard style 3 came in Mahogany with aesthetic upgrades from the styles 1 and 2. The style 3K was an upgraded model built with Koa wood and was most certainly a professional to presentation grade instrument.

This is a 1932 Martin Style 3K Ukulele with a Koa top and Koa Back and sides. It has a Koa bridge, a mahogany neck, an ebony fretboard with custom Martin inlays, and a strip of 3 ply inlay running down the center of the fingerboard. The top has a 7-ply binding, and the back has a 3-ply binding the rosette is a 9-ply inlay. It has a bone nut and saddle, and original Waverly friction tuners with Ivoroid buttons. All style 3 ukes had an inlay at the base of the lower bout behind the bridge. some were celluloid and some were bone, this one is ivory colored celluloid. Not only that, but it comes with the original gut strings too!!!!

This is a fantastic collectable ukulele. It has a couple of top cracks that need repaired, and s small gap on the fingerboard by the center stripe that needs dealt with. Colorado's dry climate has gotten to this instrument and needs some help. But it sounds great even with the original strings. The Koa is well figured, and these are the neatest looking instruments. It is definitely a collector's piece and just needs a home. For more information visit the Olde Town Pickin' Parlor in Arvada, Colorado.
